I spent 40 years and 10 months in the radio broadcast industry.

33 of those years I spent on the air in my home market of Northern Colorado.

The last 20 of those years I spent with iHeart Radio. Then one day, I was gone. Vanished. Off the air.

That’s the way of the business.

I have some podcast equipment sitting in my office and one night while staring at it, I had an idea. I wanted to re-ignite the ongoing conversation I have had with my hometown for over four decades. But I wanted to do it differently. I had some things I wanted to say that I could never do within the context of the radio shows I so enjoyed being part of.

So I grabbed the mic and recorded this. It’s a rough sketch, in audio form, of a podcast I am going to produce for Colorado. When I left the air in July of 2023, I was likely one of the most senior broadcasters in Colorado. Some have called me “Colorado’s Voice.”

While that’s flattering, I am not Colorado’s Voice. You are. A big part of what drives me to do a podcast is the desire to reflect that voice. So I will. Colorado’s Voice isn’t about me, it’s about all of us – the voice of everyday, common Coloradans being heard.

So let’s begin. I look forward to your reactions to episode one of a concept known as Colorado’s Voice.
